Grace Hearn, MA, LMHC, NCC
Individual and Couple Mental Health Counselor
Philosophy and Approach
Serves (ages 18+) Individuals and Couples
As a licensed Mental Health Counselor, I provide therapy for women, men, and couples who are struggling with personal and professional growth, relationship issues, grief and loss, and life transitions. I also specialize with families of elders who are experiencing stress and burn-out related to care-giving.
My approach to therapy can be described as strengths-based, relational, client-centered, and compassionate. I view each individual as inherently capable of recognizing and achieving the differences they seek in their life. I assist in illuminating ineffective, learned patterns of coping and relating, so that individuals gain a greater understanding of how their past experiences often affect their present life problems. With this broader perspective, individuals gain a greater awareness of their thinking, feelings and behaviors, and develop more effective ways of approaching issues in order to make the positive changes they desire in their life and relationships.
Experience and Education
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with the State of WA (LIC: LH60407803), and a nationally certified counselor. I hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University. I am a trained facilitator in Prepare/Enrich, a couples strength and growth area assessment approach that reduces the time typically spent in counseling and gets to the heart of the “real” issues. I offer Prepare/Enrich for couples in all stages of relationships, including pre-marital. I usually see clients weekly with the length of treatment varying from 3 months to a year (depending on a variety of factors), though many patients report seeing positive results in as few as 3 sessions. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the National Board of Certified Counselors, and counsel individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, race, religious affiliation and/or sexual orientation.
Location: West Lake Union
I am an in-network provider for Premera, Kaiser Permanente (KFHP), Aetna, First Choice, United Behavioral Health, and Regence. I am also in-network with Wellspring EAP and First Choice EAP. Please call for inquiries regarding additional insurance plans.
