Laura Short, MSW, LICSW
Individual, Couple and Family Therapist
Philosophy and Approach
Serves (ages 12+) Individuals, Couples and Families
I provide counseling for adolescents, individuals and couples dealing with a variety of concerns including life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and grief. I assist clients in identifying their existing strengths and the effectiveness of current thought patterns and behaviors as well as areas where they would like to see change. I believe that people are typically doing the best they can with what they have and that therapy offers the opportunity to explore new ideas and build skills. I see my role in counseling as a partner, offering genuine compassion and a safe and positive space for reflection and skill building.
Experience and Education
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington (LW60509108). I have a Master’s of Social Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have worked in non-profit, school and community mental health settings with adolescents and adults both individually and in groups for eight years. I have experience with and welcome clients from all backgrounds regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, race, religious affiliation and/or sexual orientation.
