ABOUT

My professional background includes 20 years of working directly and indirectly with families and children. My expertise includes but is not limited to working with children, adolescents, and teens with autism and other neurodiverse conditions. Additionally, I work with individuals and/or families that feel overwhelmed with life challenges or struggling with mental health issues. I have a unique understanding and awareness of varying cultural perspectives that influence our lives.

I practice from a strength-based and person-centered approach, focusing on individuals’ strengths that encourage positive developments; therefore, my approach will be unique to each individual and situation. I work best to understand your perspective, provide empathetic listening, and help you build skills and capacities to increase self-efficacy and resiliency against depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma. I believe that through working together, each individual/family can develop skills that promote mental health wellness.

I pull from various theories and models that are appropriate to your needs. I use different approaches based on age, developmental level, and modality (individual, couple, family). When working with children and adolescents, I tend to conceptualize treatment from a family systems perspective and thus will occasionally include parents in the counseling sessions.

I received my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology & Organizational Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, California.  My education and training meet the guidelines of California’s requirements for a Marriage & Family therapist (MFT). My experience as an LMCH equipped me to work with individuals challenged with symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, and stress-related experiences.  In addition, I am currently a doctoral candidate, allowing me to continue to maintain my skills and knowledge in the field.
