ABOUT
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I provide counseling to individuals and couples. My approach to counseling integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Mindfulness interventions in a Solution-Focused framework. I work collaboratively with clients to understand their problems within the context of their lives. In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I may utilize other theoretical approaches depending on the client’s life perspective and identified needs.
My areas of clinical interest include anxiety-based disorders, panic disorder, loss and grief, social skills or communication development, and life transitions. I love working with clients to introduce ways of understanding their problems from a biological standpoint, and to discover effective methods of coping with challenges. When we understand how you experience the perception of a problem in the moment, we can work together to meet your desired outcomes.
I have a strong background in cognitive psychology, providing me with a keen understanding of how human perception works within the framework of communication, and how errors in communication occur within this inherently faulty system of perception. I utilize principles of philosophy to expand upon ways in which you perceive problems and experience a sense of agency when managing them. I can help you to recognize errors in communication, how they contribute to the problems you are experiencing, and what your options are moving forward to experience the outcome you desire.
I may assign tasks or reading to be completed outside of therapy, and when appropriate I use assessment tools to gather additional information as needed. I provide brief or long-term therapy, with the length of treatment varying from client to client.
