Hannah Sanders, MA, LMFT, MHP

As a marriage and family therapist, I strive to join individuals on their path toward greater enjoyment and peace in life via collaboratively using my expertise  and experience, together with their own strengths and skills. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and individually tailored.  I view myself as a mirror to reflect the inner self and the work as an opportunity for the individual to be seen and see themself in a new way.  I also teach new relationship, living, and coping skills, while working toward understanding difficulties and dysfunction.  I use a multidisciplinary approach drawing from family systems, cognitive behavioral, daring way, mindfulness, narrative, strengths-based, and psychodynamic theories/techniques.

During my previous work as an early learning teacher serving behaviorally and emotionally struggling kids, I learned about  the impact of trauma and poverty on early childhood, particularly the challenges within an educational setting. I learned how to approach and connect with traumatized children.  As a dancer and dance instructor, the importance of the physical being in our overall wellness has been an area of interest and focus. As a therapist for 4 years in a child and family mental health agency, I have gained experience working with children, teens, and adults in a variety of problem areas including anxiety,  depression, ocd, trauma, behavior problems, parenting skills, relationship dynamics. I have particularly gravitated toward working with teens around questions of identity and self-worth, anxiety and mood issues, and relationships. It is especially important to me to create an authentic and real space with individuals while highlighting strengths.
