ABOUT
To have a successful counseling experience, it’s important that you feel heard and understood. I use careful listening and reflection techniques to join with you to address what is most important. My compassionate, empathetic style is essential for us to move forward as we discuss your situation. As you progress, I’ll help you gain insight into your situation, allow you to vent your troubles and develop better ways of coping.
When we work together, we’ll create a non-judgmental space for you to discuss your own unique situation. I can help you learn about yourself by pointing out patterns or coping skills you have developed over time. I may teach you strategies to deal with life problems, but I won’t direct you. Instead, I’ll help you learn to solve your own problems, enabling you to gain insight and move forward in a way that works best for you.
My Approach
I draw from several therapeutic modalities to best support each client. Whether we meet once or over a period of time, I’ll utilize humanistic approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy and Humanistic Therapies that get to the core of what is troubling you. I develop a strong, trusting, working relationship with my clients, enabling them to feel fully supported as they move forward through their journey.
Specialties
As someone with a chronic illness and a disability, I am familiar with the grief, anger, and depression that often accompany life-altering medical conditions. Together we can address these issues and learn how you can best develop an engaged, more fulfilling life. I have helped many clients deal with a variety of other challenges including depression, anxiety, difficult relationships, divorce, loneliness, work / life stress, abuse, suicidal feelings, and relocation. I will ensure that you are fully understood and obtain the support you need to deal with life’s stressors. We will work through emotions associated with hardship to learn realistic coping strategies. This, in turn, will lead to greater life satisfaction and a more insightful understanding of yourself.
