ABOUT

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (MC61294477), I enjoy working with teenagers, adults, and couples. During my internship I worked with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, and relational stress. My clients taught me many lessons, including the importance of the therapeutic relationship, the connection between mind, body, emotions, and relationships, and the immense human capacity for healing.

The counseling process can help to illuminate personal strengths and solutions to fit your unique story. I view problems as both present and past, meaning coping skills we learn early in life may be unknowingly affecting the way we behave in the present. I use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Arts Therapy in my practice.

The body-mind connection is a focus of many therapies and is especially useful in anxiety and trauma therapy. I incorporate body work in therapy because I believe the body is directly connected to emotional expression.  This can decrease debilitating symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma and  enhance performance ability for artists and performers. My somatic work incorporates breathing techniques, relaxation methods, mindfulness, and elements of Alexander Technique.

Spirituality is another element of the human experience which can be explored in therapy. I see this as a search for meaning which can influence all other aspects of life. I have experience guiding others through difficult questions and life circumstances related to faith and spirituality. If this is something you would like to make the focus of therapy or incorporate into your treatment, please let me know.

My education and experience allow me to work with clients navigating various problems including depression, anxiety, trauma, life-transitions, existential issues, and marital/partner issues.

I provide both long-term and brief therapy depending on the needs of the client.
