About
As someone who has worked with people of all ages in various helping capacities for over 25 years, I bring a great deal of experience to my work as a counselor. In my work as a special education teacher in the high school setting for many years I obtained great insight into the struggles inherent to adolescents, parents, and families.
Since completing my Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Antioch University in Seattle, I am now able to support clients through a supportive and healing relationship as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
I use a warm and open therapeutic approach to building a trusting relationship with each and every client so that we can begin our important work together. My approach to counseling is not confined to one specific framework but incorporates a variety of modalities to best fit each client’s unique needs. I believe in the use of strength-based language and always view my clients with unconditional positive regard, seeking to work toward solutions and strengths, and away from a focus on perceived problems. In work with clients, I see great value exploring the family systems and attachment styles. I may also use an orientation that utilizes mindfulness-based practices to promote client growth and emotional awareness both in and outside the therapeutic relationship.
