2-day Applied Clinical Supervision Training: A Best Practice Supervision Model
June 27-28, 2025, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This 2-day, 16-hour Experience in Clinical Supervision training is designed for fully licensed Washington state counselors and therapists who have completed the required 15-hour Washington State approved supervisor education (WAC 246-809-134) and are working toward the completion of 25 hours of required experience in Supervision of Clinical Practice. Participants will practice applied supervision during these training sessions
Prerequisites
- Copy of the certificate of completion for 15 hours of Washington State Approved Supervisor Education
After this two-day training, participants will have:
- Completed the 25-hours of the Washington State Approved Supervisor, supervision of clinical practice.
Under the guidance of two doctoral-level supervisor mentors, participants practice the essential skills for best practice in supervision including:
- Presenting a supervision agreement
- Assessing zones of professional development
- Facilitating collaborative goals for supervision
- Fostering ethical decision-making within supervision
- Engaging multiculturally sensitive supervisory discourse
- Initiating supervision gatekeeping responsibilities
- Managing collaborative termination of supervision
Participants will apply the supervision skills acquired during this training across various oversight formats including individual, triadic, and group supervision. The methods of supervision practiced during this training such as role-playing and reversal, interpersonal process recall, modeling, and demonstration.
About the Mentors
Kim McBride, Ph.D., LMFT, is a couple therapist and counselor educator, an AAMFT and Washington State Approved Supervisor, a clinical therapist, and a consultant to couple-owned businesses. She earned a Master’s in Psychology with a concentration in Child, Couple, and Family Therapy from Antioch University Seattle; a Master’s Certificate in Management and Organization Development from Fielding Graduate University; and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Couple Therapy from Northcentral University. Kim’s supervisory approach is supervisee-centered, strength- based, and outcomes-focused. Her overarching goal as a clinical supervisor is to equip supervisees with the professional knowledge and clinical and multicultural competencies necessary to enter independent practice as competent clinicians.
Colin C. Ward, Ph.D., LMHC, is a multifaceted professional serving as a counselor educator, clinician in private practice, clinical supervisor, mentor, author, and a presenter of clinical workshops at both national and international levels. Colin obtained his Master of Science in Counseling from Winona State University and his Ph.D. in Counseling from Oregon State University. He has recently retired from his leadership roles as a counselor educator and supervisor in higher education, and currently engages in counseling individuals, consulting for businesses and educational institutions, and supervising licensed associates on their path to full licensure. His supervision style is centered on developmental and reflective learning theories, emphasizing a resilience-centered, supervisee-focused, and outcome-driven approach.
